Beth Dakin

After several years of trying, at age 5, Beth finally convinced her mother to let her take a ballet class. It was love at first position. Beth attended ballet classes at Agnes Strecker Dance Studio in Revere, Massachusetts for twelve years, and added jazz, tap, lyrical, and pointe along the way.

At Wellesley College, Beth danced in the Yanvalou Drum and Dance Ensemble. Yanvalou focused on Afro-Haitian and Afro-Brazilian dance. Beth feels that the experience taught her whole new ways to move her body.

After college, Beth moved to the Bay Area to work as a software engineer. It took her several years to figure out how to balance her busy work schedule with her love of dance, but she finally figured it out in August of 2011 when she took her first class at Ariel Dance Productions — Tap! Since then, Beth has continued her dance education with many classes at Ariel, and she has become a protégé member of the all-female dance team, Elemental Remix.

Beth considers herself to be an enthusiastic lifelong learner, and she encourages other lifelong learners of all skill levels to join her for tap class!
