Giovanni Leanza is an Italian professional dancer in Ballroom (Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Fox Trot, Quickstep) and Latin American (Cha cha cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble, Jive) styles and a performance artist. His artistic career began 35 years ago, inspired by his parents, who were also dancers. At the age of 15, he opened his first dance studio in his hometown, which lasted for 7 years. Between 2000 and 2002, he achieved several placements in national competitions, including 4th place in the Italian Championship for Latin American dances, 1st place at the Regional Championship for Ballroom and Latin American dances, and 1st place in the Italian ranking list for Latin American dances.

In 2005, he relocated to England to study with renowned masters of Latin American and Ballroom dances. During his three years there, he represented England at the European Championships and World Championships in both disciplines, becoming the UK Champion in the combined 10 dance (Ballroom and Latin) category and securing 2nd place in the British ranking list. During this time, he also served as a trainer and coordinator of dance sport at Sheffield University.

In 2008, he received an invitation to teach at one of Singapore's most prestigious schools. He returned to Italy in 2009 and received recognition as a Professional Dance Sport instructor in Latin American and Ballroom dances. He founded his second dance studio in his hometown which lasted for 10 years, one of the largest schools in southern Italy dedicated to training athletes and promoting as Area Manager as Member of the National DanceSport Federation these disciplines within the student sports circuit (Elementary, Middle, High School and University).

With 25 years of experience in promoting and teaching dance, both nationally and internationally, Giovanni Leanza currently teaches at a local ballroom studio in San Jose and will join the Ariel Dance Faculty in Campbell in March 2024. He continues to compete as an athlete in national and international contests with Kids and Adult students as Pro-Am and is available for workshops, performances, and private/group lessons. The disciplines he teaches are Ballroom and Latin American International style, American Smooth, Cuban Salsa, and Bachata.
