Profile
Since stepping foot in a San Jose dance studio at the age of five, Kim has over 25 years of training and dance experience ranging from Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Contemporary, Musical Theater, and Creative Movement. Professional highlights and credits include dancing for local Pop/R&B artists Yvette Jones and M:G, California's Great America, Nickelodeon, Brittany Murphy, international dj Paul Oakenfold, Jake Nava, and Brian Friedman.
In 2006, Kim began her career as an instructor, choreographer, and dance team director (competitive and community) in the Elk Grove/Sacramento area. As a fierce advocate of the performing arts, she introduced dance to children in charter schools, Boy Scouts of America, and the Parks and Recreation department of Sacramento. In 2010, Kim returned to the Bay Area where she continues to live the dancer life with her little girl.
Although Kim still loves performing with local dance teams and studios, she feels most at home inspiring students to be just as ignited as she is by music and dance. Understanding the positive impact of the arts in one's development and complete education is one of the driving forces behind her enthusiasm and passion for the performing arts. But even if her students never set foot in a dance class ever again, it is her hope that they take something positive from their experience that stays with them for a lifetime- be it confidence, poise, time management, discipline, perseverance, professionalism, etc.
Currently keeping herself en pointe at The Harker School and Dance Academy USA, Kim is thrilled to join the Ariel Dance Productions family and she is grateful to continue her love of teaching, learning, performing, and "spinny thingies" every single day.
