Profile

Oanh Tretter

Lori’s first love was movie musicals. She began performing in Musical Theatre at the age of 10 and was hooked! She continued performing and training throughout her youth in singing, dancing, and acting, and into college at UC San Diego where she was accepted into the student touring dance company.

While in college, Lori studied Stanislavski, or “method,” acting at the Rehearsal Room in San Diego under Carey Scott, who trained under the legendary Stella Adler. She also continued her voice training at Martha’s Studio in San Diego. She graduated UCSD Magna Cum Laude with degrees in Theatre and Dance.

After college, Lori danced and choreographed professionally with Canyon Movement Company in Flagstaff, Arizona. She also began her teaching career at the Canyon Movement Academy teaching both children and adults. Canyon Movement Company toured throughout Arizona and Nevada.

Following her time in Arizona, Lori moved to NYC and joined Experiencia Dance company under the amazing tutelage of Latin pop star, Jade Esteban Estrada. With Experiencia Dance, she had the pleasure of performing in festivals throughout NYC, and once in New Jersey.

Additionally, she threw on her tap shoes to perform as Charity in Anything Goes with the Brookly Heights Players. Upon returning to the Bay Area, Lori danced and choreographed with On3 Dance Company in SF. She had the pleasure of dancing in the music video for “Locked & Loaded” with Miko Marks, and as a backup dancer for a contestant in the Mr. Marina contest.

Lori also continued her vocal training with the amazing Molly Bell. In the ensuing years, Lori has taught, choreographed, and performed throughout the bay area including at City Lights Theatre Company, 42nd St Moon, Studio 10 Dance, and Bus Barn Stage Co.

Throughout that time, she has become fiercely passionate in the belief that the performing arts should be a place of kindness and joy. Singing and acting and dancing should be fun and enriching, and at Ariel Studio, we strive to make them that and more. Come play with us and grow stills you can use anywhere!
